IP Specialist/Contracts Attorney

Representative Responsibilities:
 • Maintain, protect and enforce the organization’s intellectual property portfolio by:
   • Drafting, negotiating, interpreting and advising the organization on IP related agreements;
   • Advising and counseling the organization on various IP matters including patents, trademarks, trade secrets and copyrights;
   • Drafting freedom to operate opinions and/or invalidity/non-infringement opinions.
   • Conducting trademark clearance searches
   • Assist with development of intellectual property strategies
 • Assists with general legal responsibilities of the organization:
   • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and administering contracts, licenses, leases and other agreements 
   • Work with external legal resources as needed
   • Research, anticipate and guard the organization against legal risks
   • Analyzing intellectual property aspects of potential acquisitions
 • Reviewing and negotiating contracts for all other departments and affiliate companies with vendors, partners, and other external entities
 • Perform other similar or related duties as requested or assigned
 • Complete special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashion
 • Ability to travel when necessary

Minimum Qualifications:
 • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
 • Law degree and must be admitted to at least one state bar and be in good standing
 • Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
 • 2-5 years prior IP legal experience either in house or at a law firm.  
 • Experience with trademarks, patent prosecution phases, freedom to operate, invalidity and non-infringement opinions is preferred.
 • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, ability to get along with diverse personalities  
 • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but able to recognize and positively support the organization’s preferences and priorities
 • Superior organizational, research, problem-solving and negotiating skills.
 • Strong attention to detail
 • Computer skills required (contract management software, Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, Windows)
 • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast paced setting on a variety of issues
