ETC (Electronic Theatre Controls, Inc.), a global leader in entertainment, architectural lighting, and Rigging currently has an opening for a Researcher in our Advanced Research Group.

We're looking for a successful individual to become part of our international corporation. This individual would be researching designs, analyzing problems, determining solutions and developing new or improved products.

Our ideal candidate will possess a minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or AMEP; with the ability to write software. Knowledge of Linear Algebra / Programming / Color Science are a plus because initial assignments will focus on the physics of light, color and optics.

Representative Responsibilities:
• Support marketing, applications and project managers regarding the design of new systems and products
• Participate in the development of system architectures
• Assist in translating technical knowledge into products and processes, demonstrating feasibility of product ideas and operating principles within cost and time constraints
• Conduct necessary investigative work pertinent to designs, including feasibility studies, research and design of experiments to prove out product concepts
• Assist in the development of technical specifications and project plans
• Participate in the compilation of project schedules, task and project completion time estimates
• Work with teams to improve engineering methods and procedures
• Identify technical opportunities and suggest areas for product development and improvement, cost reduction, reliability, improved quality, manufacturing, and/or maintenance
• Analyze difficult or complex problems and propose solutions for specified products, processes or systems
• Assist in developing prototype designs and systems, and pre-pilot releases for new products
• Serve as a resource across multiple departments and projects
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Complete special projects and assignments in a positive and timely manner

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or AMEP
• Solid understanding of the principals of physics & engineering
• Knowledge & experience with the following:
• Applied mathematics – required
• Physics/experimental physics – required
• Ability to write C/C++ - required
• Optics – desirable
• Ability to write software for Mac, Linux & Windows – desirable
• Rapid prototyping languages (e.g. Perl, python, TCL) – desirable
• Electrical Engineering - desirable
