Component Engineer

Department: Manufacturing Engineering
Region: Midwest (US)

ETC, a global leader in entertainment and architectural lighting, is looking for a Component Engineer to join our Middleton team in evaluating components used in product design. We are looking for a candidate to be part of our Product Engineering Team in Manufacturing Engineering. An education in Electrical or Electronics Engineering is desirable, but we will consider other engineering backgrounds in a candidate with the appropriate electrical component knowledge and experience.

All levels of Engineers are encouraged to apply. A bachelor’s degree is required, and SAP experience is a major plus.

Representative Responsibilities:
• Make design modifications or improvements to development projects with supervision
• Maintain project reference documentation
• Develop test and verification procedures
• May be involved in continuing engineering maintenance and manufacturing floor support of existing products
• Provide task completion time estimates
• Participates as a team member and works effectively in a team environment
• Learns department and corporate policies, procedures, and plans
• Specify and evaluate electronic components for use in ETC products
• Assist with evaluating supply chain health of purchased parts and components
• Identify electronic components that are candidates for obsolesce
• Assist in the redesign of electronic products
• Coordinate component engineering efforts across all product lines
• Assist with ensuring component changes occur in a timely fashion
• Develop solutions for electronic component issues that meet specifications
• Assist in ensuring selected parts meet quality standards
• Enter relevant component information into MRP business management system
• Analyze product designs and processes for cost reduction opportunities
• Assist in developing and implementing product and process improvement projects
• Maintain process standards both at ETC and with vendors
• Assist in fostering vendor and manufacturer relationships to ensure the procurement of cost-efficient high-quality parts
• Identify viable alternative manufacturers and sources for components
• Assist in the management and release of standard products to manufacturing
• Identify, address, and resolve component issues during new product development
• Ensure completeness and accuracy of component documentation prior to product release
• Assign new part numbers with accurate descriptions
• Provide engineering support to the manufacturing of standard released products
• Follow Manufacturing Engineering ISO procedures
• Respond to production issues and provide appropriate solutions in a timely fashion
• Ensure products not meeting standards are put on hold

Minimum Qualifications: Grade and level to be determined, based on education and experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
• All levels of previous job-related experience will be considered

• Has good grasp of grammar and sentence structure for technical writing
