Associate General Counsel

Who We Are: ETC is the leading manufacturer of entertainment technology! We’re based in Middleton, WI with offices and products around the globe. We make lights, controls, and rigging for some of the world’s largest concert venues, performance spaces, museums, workspaces, television and movie sets, and arenas.

What You’ll Do: ETC’s legal department is a true dynamic team who handle a large variety and volume of tasks to provide counsel for our global operations. You’ll assist the General Counsel with drafting, negotiating and maintaining business agreements, assist with acquisitions, maintain our global IP portfolio, and development of processes and best practices.

What You’ll Need: In addition to a law degree and 2+ years of experience with a global manufacturer or in corporate law, you’ll need exceptional organization and communication skills for negotiations and the ability to identify risk and provide creative mitigation strategies. As this is a very busy team of three, you must be able to prioritize work and stay ahead of deadlines, and thrive on working efficiently to meet customer needs. Experience with a cloud-based contract system is a plus.

Representative Responsibilities:
Assists the General Counsel with the following:
• Developing and implementing processes, templates, and best practices to support ETC’s global business operations
• Assessing business transactions and operations to minimize legal and business risks for ETC’s global business operations
• Drafting, negotiating, and maintaining a variety of business agreements for ETC’s global business operations
• Acquisitions and strategic partnership development
• Coordination of external legal resources as needed
• Assisting with the maintenance of ETC’s global IP portfolio
• Other duties as assigned
• Special projects and requests are completed in a timely and positive fashion
• Ability to travel when necessary

Minimum Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Juris doctorate degree from an accredited law school
• Good standing as a member of the Wisconsin State Bar (or the ability to become a member of the Wisconsin State Bar)
• 4-6 years legal experience with a global manufacturing company, corporate law, or related practice(s)
• Excellent negotiation, research, and legal drafting skills
• Capacity to handle the assigned workload and passion for your role
• Excellent communication skills and ability to get along with diverse personalities.
• Ability to manage and prioritize work from multiple stakeholders
• Demonstrated ability to be organized, identify risk, problem solve, and offer creative solutions to mitigate risk
• Computer skills required. Experience with a cloud-based contract system is preferred
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced setting on a variety of issues
