Controller

ETC, a global leader in the manufacture of lighting, rigging, and control equipment for live entertainment, commercial, and architectural applications. is currently seeking a Controller to join our London office. ETC is renowned for its innovation, product quality, and employee focused culture. Our products are found in theatres, studios, architectural spaces, cruise ships and entertainment venues across the world, and we take great pride in the creativity and engineering excellence behind them.

The Controller will join our global Finance team and contribute to the continued success of our operations, by overseeing accounting operations and managing the London Finance team.

Our ideal candidate will have a degree in Accounting or Finance, previous experience in a Controller level role, global manufacturing experience with a keen eye for detail, and a genuine enthusiasm for developing people and improving processes. Previous management experience and familiarity with SAP is preferred.

Representative Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and reviews the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; including local consolidations
  • Responsible for the review and analysis of variances between budgeted and actual results.
  • Oversees and reviews various reports such as royalties and bank compliance reports
  • Oversees the tracking of fixed assets
  • Oversees the reconciliation of bank accounts
  • Manages all financial audits
  • Oversees the preparation of reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Ensures the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income and business tax returns
  • Ensure compliant VAT determination and configuration within SAP
  • Monitor international activities of the company and related tax compliance
  • Develops and recommends accounting policy
  • Oversee and responsible for finance, accounting and compliance of foreign entities/branches
  • Management of local banking relationships
  • Oversee E-Commerce systems
  • Forecasts short-term and long-term cash requirements and obligations as a basis for maintaining adequate funds
  • Assures protection of the assets of the business through internal control, internal auditing, and ensuring proper insurance coverage with coordination at international level.
  • Monitors credit and collections applications; approves terms above a predetermined amount.
  • Supports the General Manager.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Completes special products and assignments in a positive and timely manner

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, ACCA//CIMA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Controller, preferably in a manufacturing company
  • 3-5 years previous supervisory experience
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting systems
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but able to recognize and support the organization’s preferences and priorities
  • Computer skills preferred (Excel, Word, Outlook, SAP, Power Bl, Prophix)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, key performance indicators, and ratio analysis
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, Integrated Standard Costing systems,
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Integration of acquisitions
  • Contract review
  • International Trade Finance – performance bonds, L/Cs
  • International transfer pricing
  • Working knowledge of manual and automated accounting systems
  • Participative management type
  • Familiar with international distribution channels
  • Knowledge of customs procedures
  • Ability to travel

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and collaborates with other departments of the company in establishing and carrying out responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain positive communication between finance and other departments.
  • Performs the hiring, orientation, training, performance management, career development, and overall employee development of department personnel.
  • Monitors budgets and forecasts
  • Regulates the amount of spending
  • Manages the month-to-month expenditures
  • Formulates, implements & reviews ISO procedures related to the department
  • Instructs employees about procedures and work instructions
  • Informs employees as to company/departmental plans and progress
  • Maintains reporting on all department activities
  • Continue to monitor efficiency in the department and make improvements where appropriate
  • Ensures that duties, responsibilities, and authority and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood
