Repair Rework Technician

This role involves the timely troubleshooting, testing, and repair of incoming customer units, providing assistance to the Phone Support team, and maintaining some of ETC’s legacy products.

Some of the tasks that you'll be responsible for include but is not limited to:
• Subassembly level repair of customer, loaner & sales demo equipment.
• Ensures customer units are repaired within two weeks.
• Ensures units are not returned for repair of the same problem.
• Completes Repair portion of the RMA process, detailing what problems were observed and corrected, logging time and materials used, and providing warranty info when unit is ready to ship.
• Operate automated test equipment to troubleshoot and repair customer unit.
• Rebuild and repair complex mechanical assemblies to like new condition.
• Give timely estimates of damaged customer equipment, and perform needed repairs.
• Supports Phone Techs as it relates to equipment repair.
• Offers possible solutions to Phone Techs for problems occurring at customer sites ensuring they are useful and based on experience and product knowledge.
• Addresses questions from ETC personnel or Customers within one working day.
• Maintains and tests older parts and assemblies.
• Ensures PCB boards tested in Repair Department are burned in and completely tested.
• Ensures untested PCB boards are not used or shipped.
• Orders parts when quantity hits re-order point.
• Maintains a clean, organized and safe work environment.
• Ensures soldering and other power tools, are maintained and returned to the appropriate areas.
• Ensures ESD wristband is worn when working with PCB boards and their components.
• Adheres to safety standards at all times
• Ensures that safe methods and practices are used
• Abides by safety procedures, work practice control, and OSHA guidelines
• Wears personal protective equipment when required
• Other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

• HS diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred
• 3-4 years of production related experience
• Experience in a team environment
• Experience with problem tracking tools
• Knowledge of production and quality procedures
• Able to follow complex drawings
• Knowledge of production and quality procedures
• Good manual dexterity
• Knowledge of electrical safety
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Identify safety and quality issues
• Able to understand the relationship between complex sub-assemblies
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Able to use hand tools, small power tools, and test equipment
• Problem solving and creative thinking skills
• Computer skills
• Able to work independently
